Studernt Response Systems is the interactive polling of student answers to teacher questions in face-to-face classes using a wireless device called a clicker. Examples of student response and assessment tools can be found using:
1. Socrative - (socrative.com)
2. Poll everywhere (- http://www.polleverywhere.com/)
3. Quizlet- (http://quizlet.com/)
All three websites gives a guide on how to perform the polls. I've learned that these websites can be useful in simply illustrating how a poll works in producing data that are meaningful to students in order to teach analysis skills. Reports show that this interaction has improved student engagement, more active learning, and greater achievement. Sometimes tudents feel more comfortable responding with this tool rather than raising their hand when questions being discussed were controversial.
Student response tools can support learning in the classrooms. For example, teacher may display a question or problem on the interactive whiteboard. All students will answer at the same time. The system summarizes and displays results immediately. I hope to use this system to check comprehension and to engage students in an individual or group response.
