Instructional Software is computer programs that are designed specifically to deliver instruction or assist with the instruction given. It reinforces the content given in class. Productivity software is your product. It is tools that you use for processing such as Microsoft word. There are five different types of instructional software: Drill and Practice, Tutorial, Simulation, Instructional game, Problem Solving. Brain Pop and The Digital Frog are two examples of instructional software. Instructional software can support student acquisition of required learning standards in content areas by allowing for frequent assessments that measures the number you got wrong and right while providing feedback. It also allows for student engagement as they explore real imagery of dissection without the physicality of doing it.
Current instructional software can now be uploaded on microcomputers, hand-held devices, and cell phones which makes it easily accessible. However, allowing access to software for all students remains an issue. Let’s examine other types of issues with dealing with instructional software from a theorist perspective. Constructive learning is designed for all students to think critically and creatively to solve problems with the use of multimedia projects. Direct instruction is one that desires students to meet required educational standards to be considered educated. Multiple-choice, true/false, and matching are ideal assessments for direct instruction. Whichever you choose, they are both constructive concepts in helping our students reach goals.
